SLIP-LINING: Culvert Rehabilitation

The easy, trenchless way to rehab aging culverts

When your culverts are aging and beginning to fail, digging and replacing can be an expensive and disruptive process. Traffic needs to be shut down, the existing culverts will need to be dug up, the new culverts will need to be installed and anything else that has been disrupted needs to be fixed. Hopefully this can be done without disturbing any underground utilities! But what if rehabilitating your failing culverts was an option? Slip lining provides you with a better alternative!

Slip Lining With Team PPF

Here's what you can expect when choosing to slip-line a culvert with Team PPF

BASIC PPF SLIP-LINING PROCESS:

  • Ensure adequate lay down room is available for the Slip Lining pipe, less room is needed if using segmented pipe.
  • Clean out debris from existing culvert.
  • Slide slip-line pipe (typically HDPE) into the existing host pipe (culvert). Blocking, runners and/or anti-flotation jacks may be used depending on conditions
  • Build concrete bulkheads at inlet and Outlet ends, with grout fill and vent tubes.
  • Pump or pour a light weight cellular grout to fill any voids and the annular space between the Host Pipe and the Slip-line pipe.
  • Cut off vent and fill tubes and face off bulkheads.
  • Build concrete bulkheads at inlet and Outlet ends, with grout fill and vent tubes.
